Drug Uses
Suminat Nasal Spray is for the treatment of migraine headaches. It is not suitable as a preventative for the attacks and does not reduce the number or frequency of attacks. Your doctor may prescribe Suminat Nasal Spray for other conditions.
How to use
Suminat Nasal Spray is taken by blocking one nasal passage then spraying the medication once in the unblocked nostril while inhaling through the open unblocked nostril. if your condition is acute, your doctor can approve a second dose. Don't take more than 4 sprays of Suminat Nasal Spray in each nostril in a 24 hour period.
Suminat Nasal Spray should be taken at the first sign of a migraine headache. Each spray contains 20mg of Suminat Nasal Spray. One dose of the spray is usually enough and it is applied by spraying the medication up one nostril. Your doctor may approve a second application 2 hours after the first if the symptoms of a migraine persists. You are strongly advised to follow the directions from your doctor when taking this medication.
Do not take more than 40mg Suminat Nasal Spray in any one 24 hour period.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Suminat Nasal Spray belongs to a class of anti-inflammatory agents called corticosteroids.
Missed Dose
Suminat Nasal Spray is not for regular use. Take it only during an attack.
Storage
Store Suminat Nasal Spray away from heat and light, at room temperature, in the case provided. If your medication has expired (the expiration date is printed on the treatment pack), throw it away as instructed, but keep the autoinjector. If your doctor decides to stop your treatment, do not keep any leftover medicine unless your doctor tells you to. Throw away your medicine as instructed.
